President’s Letter

10/13/23

Hello Everyone,

Here’s the latest Leo Coffeehouse/QCB news:

Taylor Pie/Nobody Famous Weekend, October 20-22

From our friend Dale Farmer: “Taylor Pie will be performing a private house concert/song swarm at my place on Friday, October 20, with Marvin Davis, David Gilligan, myself and Leslie Dancey.  So if you'd like to come let me know. I'd love to have you!” If you are interested in attending, contact Dale here.

Taylor Pie and Dale Farmer will also be at the screening of the documentary “Nobody Famous” at 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, at the Garfield Theatre to help lead the after movie discussion.

“Nobody Famous” is the story of Susan Taylor (now known as Taylor Pie) and The Pozo-Seco Singers — an American folk band that emerged during the 1960s. Comprised of Susan Taylor, Don Williams (of country music fame) and Lofton Kline, the trio hailed out of Corpus Christi, TX.

As Dale says, “It's a GREAT documentary that really brings to life the folk revival of the 1960s. You are the perfect audience.” For more information, and to buy tickets, go to cincyworldcinema.org.

Finally, Taylor Pie is scheduled to lead a workshop and perform at Leo Coffeehouse on October 22. See “Looking Ahead” below for more information.

3RD SET: Taylor Pie
Taylor had led the life of a troubadour and has shared the stage with many great musicians. She was inducted into America’s Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame. But right now she’s introducing the world-at-large to the concept of songswarming with a new Puff Bunny record release. taylorpie.com

QCB/Leo Coffeehouse Membership

We are keeping our standard annual QCB membership dues at $20.00 for a family, or for a single person plus a guest. Last year, knowing that the pandemic cut into our contingency funds, as we continued to pay overhead expenses with no income, some members donated larger amounts to QCB. We very much appreciate the support of all QCB members at all levels.

We are exploring setting up our website to allow the payment of different levels of dues support.  For now, if you’d like to pay the standard dues, you can pay them online here or by a check at Leo. (We’ve discontinued our P.O. Box, I will have a mailing address in the next newsletter for those who wish to mail their membership dues.)

If you would like to donate more than the $20.00 standard dues, you can do so by check, or through our website. When you get to the page with the box to relay instructions, just note that you are paying a larger amount for your dues.

For visitors who prefer not to become a member, a donation of $5.00 (cash) per person helps us pay the rent for our non-profit organization.  Donations can be slipped in the box at the welcome table outside our performance room, Founders Hall.  If you can’t afford that, pay what you can afford or nothing at all.  We will welcome you to join us either way.
