From Neil Harrell, President, Queen City Balladeers:
March 25, 2020
A lot has happened since I first wrote you on March 12th about the COVID-19 pandemic. At this point it is clear that things are not going to get better for a while longer.
This past Saturday, Janice Alvarado sent out an email for me to inform our scheduled performers that we don’t know if we will be able to reopen in April or May. As I told them, and am telling you now, it’s not looking likely. If things change and we can safely reopen, we will contact everyone through our normal channels. Until then Leo Coffeehouse is closed until further notice.
For those wishing to keep in touch with fellow Queen City Balladeer members, I encourage everyone to join the Queen City Balladeer Members Group page on Facebook. If you don’t have a Facebook account, I encourage you to get one. I have found Facebook to be an effective way to keep in touch with friends and family during this crisis. Plus, those of us on Facebook already, would like to hear from everyone to learn how you all are doing.
On the QCB Members Group page, many of us have shared: music videos of ourselves and others, interesting music news, and music related anecdotes. Once you join Facebook, you can keep it very simple. You don’t need to “friend” a bunch of people or even have a news feed on your page. To find the main QCB page, search for @queencityballadeers. Then click “Like” and “Follow.” From there you can click on “Groups” and then “Queen City Balladeers Members Group” and click “Join.” You can read what others are posting right away. Once one of us approves your request to join, you can post too.
Until we are able to see each other again, stay safe and well (stay away from others and wash your hands frequently), and keep playing music. It may be the only thing that keeps us sane through the duration.
