Leo Coffeehouse FALL 2020 Season CANCELLED

The Fall 2020 Leo Coffeehouse is CANCELLED due to safety concerns surrounding the spread of the  virus causing the COVID19 pandemic. Queen City Balladeers Neil Harrell has this announcement:

August 15, 2020

Hello Everyone,

As many have probably expected, I am writing to inform you that, due to the pandemic, we are cancelling the first half of the 2020-2021 Leo Coffeehouse Season, from Sept. through Dec.  We will reevaluate the second half of the season as we get to December.  There is a very good chance that we will be forced to cancel the second half, from January through May, as well.

Although in recent weeks, current measures (wearing masks, public distancing and people staying home) appear to have slowed the virus somewhat in Ohio, Governor DeWine’s order for public gatherings to be limited to 10 people or fewer is still in effect, with good reason.  Obviously this order applies to Leo Coffeehouse.

Despite the progress in some states, trusted public health officials are predicting that the pandemic is going to get much worse this fall and winter.  We have already seen this in states that have reopened businesses too soon, where governors have refused to mandate masks, where schools have reopened with in classroom attendance, and where youth sports have restarted.

Although not being able to reopen Leo is disappointing, it isn’t all bad news.  We are looking into the possibility of running a weekly Virtual Leo Coffeehouse on Facebook.  If you are on Facebook, you might have noticed that one QCB member, Dave Mason, has been playing virtual open mics in Cincinnati and all over the world.  Most, if not all, of these performances first air live on Facebook and then are available for viewing on YouTube for those who can’t watch them live or who don’t subscribe to Facebook.

We will be exploring this idea and I will let you know more about what we come up with in the near future.  If anyone has any comments or ideas on this subject, or would like to volunteer to help run it, please let me know.

Until then, stay safe.
